Zi Wei or purple emperor is the northern-most star; it is believed to be Polaris.
This art of astrology was originated in China, during the time of Song Dynasty. Regrettably, it is unclear who can be credited with this art. There are two books which were published sometime around this century, they are 《紫微斗数全集》 and 《紫微斗数全书》 . These two books were credited a Taoist called Chen Xi Yi (陈希夷), but also rumoured to be Lu Dong Ping (吕洞宾) who passed on this art over to Chen Xi Yi (陈希夷).
Originally it was recorded in Tao Cang (道藏), a canon of Taoist teachings and studies. This art itself is different from the Zi Wei we know today. The original version is better known as Si Ba Fei Xing (十八飞星) or the eighteen flying stars.
Because of its high accuracy, it was enforced that only the imperial palace can use this art. This best kept secret lasted until the end of Qing Dynasty with the coming of communist and wars in China. People with metaphysics knowledge had to run overseas to ensure that the knowledge is not lost.
Today, this art is practiced in China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and even to places like US and France, just to name a few. Today, there are many sects or school of thought who teach, pratise and refining this art.
Of course the problem is there are lots of different ideas floating around; ideas which are either lost in translation or just different from the many diverse schools out there.
So what I hope to do in this blog is to voice out some ideas which I think are important, to discuss and to prove some points.
Primary, this blog will be a place where I will share what I know about "Si Hua" Zi Wei, which is the least known topic in the English world.
Thats all for now.
Cheers,
L
